Scott,

Currently I swing my weighted golf club almost daily. I start out slowly, but then with good technique try to reach nearly full speed so I can improve my swing speed. I do it in front of a mirror to make sure I'm stable throughout my swing.

I also do wrist strengthening exercises with my weighted club.

On occasion I will swing it with one arm like my lead arm to strengthen the muscles going into impact.

Hope this helps.

Scott,

That's a great exercise I remember doing when I was a young kid in my basement for baseball. If you don't want to "rig" one of up yourself, there are some on the market, like at http://www.wristripper.com

I do wrist rolls. you use a rope attached to a handle. The end of the rope has a weight that you add. Hold the handle in both hands are roll the rope to the top and then back down.

Hi Mike,

I wanted to know if you could comment on using heavy training clubs for power. Do you have any specific drills when using heave training clubs or weights added to clubs such as the iGotchaReady.

Thanks

Hey Richard!

That's awesome! Congrats on your results. I commend you as it is not easy to lose that much weight and keep it off.

Thanks for the kind words, but you did ALL the work!

Hi Mike. I bought your eBook on weight loss for golfers July 2007. The tips in there were so easy to follow it was a "no-brainer" decision to adopt the program. At the time I had reached my highest weight ever, 250lbs and by Sept 2008, I weighed 192. I also used your exercise programs with equal success. My golf game became much more enjoyable because I was so much more fit. For the game to improve though, it still takes lots of practice.

Today I'm slightly over 200 but I expected to regress a little. Looking forward to golf in the spring so I am taking your advice and recommitting to the weight loss.

Anyway, thanks for making it so simple for me. I have passed along your name to many friends... they all want to know how I did it of course.

Hi Mike,

Great advice - interesting to hear about the importance of the wrists in generating power in the golf swing.

What is the best way to strengthen the wrists and forearms? I wondered if you had tried wrist-strengthening gyroscopes such as 'Powerball' before and what your thoughts are on these. Any exercises you could recommend on both wrist and forearm strengthening would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks
